 What Is A Hydraulic Hose?

A hydraulic hose is manufactured in  three layers: there is the core, a reinforcement, and the outer cover. These reinforced layers are made of a braided textile or braided steel or four or six spiral layers of wound steel to give the hose the strength to withhold the pressure needed. The braided steel is typically more flexible and has a tighter bend radius than spiral steel. Higher pressure hoses require there to be more layers of reinforcement which causes the hose to have a larger bend radius.

Bend Radius of a Hydraulic Hose

The bend radius of a hydraulic hose is how taunt the hose can bend without crimping or kinking within the inner tube. This is a very important factor when choosing and routing a hydraulic hose. Forcing a hydraulic hose to a bend radius smaller than the minimum recommendation places excessive stress on the reinforcement which will open larger gaps between the strands of reinforcement and severely reduces the ability of the hose to withstand pressure, thereby reducing hose assembly life and causing damage to the hose. Our hydraulic hose experts are knowledgeable in providing information on the correct bend radius each hose needs for all applications and usages.

There are many other factors when selecting the proper hydraulic hose for your usage and application. From selecting the proper temperature, media and pressure tolerance are very important when choosing a hydraulic hose for the usage is very important. Our experienced hydraulic hose expert will assist in helping find the proper hydraulic hose and hose part within our 3 stores located in New Jersey.

Snow Plow Cylinders in NJ

Are you looking for snow plow cylinders in NJ? At The Hose Shop, we have a vast inventory of hydraulic hoses and hydraulic hose accessories for your snow plow cylinders. Our expert staff can provide you with same day service for an affordable price.

When winter comes and snow begins falling, the last thing you need is a malfunctioning snowplow. It’s important to understand the parts of your snowplow, including how they work and when they might need to be replaced. The snowplow cylinder is a crucial part of keeping your snowplow in working order.

There are a few different types of cylinders on a snowplow. Hydraulic cylinders allow you to easily lift heavy objects, and are found on many different types of equipment. Angle cylinders control the left and right movements of your snowplow, and the lift cylinder raises the snowplow off the ground. When you’re transporting your snowplow, the hydraulic cylinder also helps limit the movement of the blades.

How does a hydraulic cylinder allow the snowplow to be lifted and operated? A hydraulic cylinder is filled partly with hydraulic fluid, and pistons of different size operate in the remaining space. When force is applied, fluid is pushed from the smaller piston into the bigger piston, moving it and transferring the force, allowing the object to be lifted. The larger the cylinder, the bigger the object that can be lifted.

While cylinders are relatively simple in function, they have a variety of moving parts, so it’s important to keep them lubricated and in working order.  When do your snowplow cylinders in NJ need to be replaced? A decrease in efficiency or the presence of leaks can be an indication that something is malfunctioning. If the cylinder needs to be replaced, you’ll need to obtain the model number or carefully measure the cylinder’s parts and ports in order to ensure that our hose experts can help you get the right replacement cylinder.

With such a crucial function, it’s imperative that your snowplow cylinder is functioning properly. As you can imagine, if your cylinders aren’t working properly, your snowplow won’t work well either.
